Today, we are getting to know Diane one of our talented Senior Accountants. Diane is based out of North Carolina and has been with Chazin & Company since 2023. Let's learn more about her:
1. What's your role at Chazin & Company?
I have been with Chazin for a little over a year now. I am a Senior Accountant working with the NFP SmartStart team. My career started with part-time work, helping with IRS Form 1099s, and it has blossomed since then! Still work part-time, but with a couple of clients and the ever-fun 1099s.
2. What's the most rewarding part about your job?
Do I have to choose?! First, I enjoy helping the clients get their books in order; develop systems, processes and educate! The few clients I do have all are so dedicated to their causes, and it’s admirable to see the dedication. Second, it’s a bit selfish, but learning new systems, meeting new people has been so rewarding. Having never worked with nonprofits, the learning part has been constant. And last but not least, working with my manager and team members…well, I can’t say enough good things about working with them!
3. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In the fall, it’s all about Ohio State Football! Born and raised in Ohio, it’s ALL about THE Ohio State! Otherwise, my husband and I are project people--always upgrading, painting, changing our house or yard. I like craft beer and hubby likes bourbon and we both like good times with friends. Traveling and consignment shopping come in second! So, we try to do as much of each or all of that as possible, in our free time.
4. What's your favorite volunteer activity?
Volunteering has been a major part of my life and has had the most influential impact on me. I have been heavily involved in Collie Rescue of New England when we lived in Rhode Island and Vermont. And now here in North Carolina. We have had the tremendous opportunity to have fostered 65+ dogs in our homes over the past 25 years. If you ask me to show you pictures of my kids….be prepared, it’s not the two-legged kind.
5. Please share any exciting news or a fun fact about yourself:
A fun fact, I am now working on my NRA Marksmanship Distinguished Expert level in pistol and will finish by summer. Next up, NRA rifle marksmanship!
