Employee Spotlight: Mark Antonio

Mark Antonio Employee Spotlight Header (1)

Employee Spotlight is a blog series meant to offer an inside look at our company culture and, most importantly, highlight the talented individuals who help make our company so special. From accountants and software implementation specialists to operations, marketing, and HR professionals, get to know the people behind Chazin & Company.

Today, we are getting to know Mark Antonio, one of our talented Controllers. Mark is based out of Virginia and has been with Chazin & Company since 2020. Let's learn more about him:

1. What's your role at Chazin & Company?

As a Controller with Chazin & Company, I manage the relationship and tasks associated with four clients. There are a variety of tasks that are client specific such as regulatory reports and filings, but generally one of the most important tasks is ensuring the client is well prepared for its annual audit. Throughout the year I maintain the workpapers that are turned over to the clients’ auditors so the client can begin their audit engagement with a high level of confidence and less stress.

2. What's the most rewarding part about your job?

To me, it is rewarding when the client conveys how much they value the work I do for them, and of course when the client gets back a clean management letter and no adjusting entries from their auditor. It is also rewarding earning clients’ trust by demonstrating competence, responsiveness, and business acumen ultimately letting them focus on their mission.

3. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

In my free time I enjoy playing ice hockey, attending sporting events, fishing, and spending time with family.

4. What's your favorite volunteer activity?

I would have to say any volunteer activity involving veterans is a favorite. It is an extra bonus if it is outdoors. Helping Habitat for Humanity build homes is a cool volunteer activity where you can learn some valuable skills while helping others. Coaching youth football is also a fun volunteer activity.

5. Please share any exciting news or a fun fact about yourself:

My wife and I welcomed our daughter into the world in March of this year!

And fun fact: I tried barefoot waterskiing for the first time in my 30s.
