Today, we are getting to know Tom Zaffrann, one of our talented Controllers. Tom is based out of Ohio and has been with Chazin & Company since 2021. Let's learn more about him:
1. What's your role at Chazin & Company?
I am a Controller on the Onboarding Team. We are some of the first faces our clients see at Chazin and do our best to foster a great working relationship while “digging in” to their books. We set up processes, clean up accounts, and try to put Client Services in a position to succeed with each client.
2. What's the most rewarding part about your job?
I have met some amazing people with meaningful missions in the nonprofit world. I live in a small town in Ohio and servicing the nonprofits enables me to meet people from all over the country. I have also been able to learn more about nonprofit accounting in the past year and continue to grow in my role at Chazin.
3. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
My wife and I have three boys (14, 13, and 9). All three play multiple sports, so we usually are watching youth baseball, basketball, or football!
4. What's your favorite volunteer activity?
I have been a youth basketball coach in our community for a few years, and this year have taken on the responsibility of coaching 3rd and 4th graders. For some, it is their first year playing so teaching them the basics and watching them learn has been rewarding.
5. Please share any exciting news or a fun fact about yourself:
I’ve been a basketball coach for most of my adult life and ran a successful summer program while living in Milwaukee. We were lucky enough to win 3 AAU National Championships, sent over 100 men and women to play in college, and a few made it to the NBA and WNBA.
