Employee Spotlight: Elizabeth Profit

beth Employee Spotlight Header

Employee Spotlight is a blog series meant to offer an inside look at our company culture and, most importantly, highlight the talented individuals who help make our company so special. From accountants and software implementation specialists to operations, marketing, and HR professionals, get to know the people behind Chazin & Company.

Today, we are getting to know Elizabeth Profit, one of our talented Senior Accountants. Elizabeth is based out of Virginia and has been with Chazin & Company since March 2022. Let's learn more about her:

1. What's your role at Chazin & Company?

I am currently a Senior Accountant with Chazin & Company (and loving it – thank you, Chazin, for the opportunities!).

2. What's the most rewarding part about your job?

The most rewarding part of my job is explaining to clients exactly what I am working on and the issues I am encountering. I always reassure the clients that whatever the issue may be, it will be fixed correctly. I enjoy that personal sense of satisfaction once I get something to reconcile / balance. I’ve always thought of accounting (and auditing) as looking for clues and some clues are harder to come by than others. I never give up though, and never give in. The client is assured their books are correct, and I know I can justify anything I had to do to their records. I am also very meticulous and will chase a penny!

3. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

These questions always crack me up – free time??? What’s that? I am a workaholic by trade but, when I do make time for myself, I enjoy participating on other nonprofit executive boards (local national soccer club, national sorority finance committee board); watching my two girls (15 and 17) play competitive club and high school soccer; watching reality TV (seriously – ask me anything about any show on TLC); reading books by the Dali Lama; and going to the beach and traveling. My daughter, Erin, just returned from a national soccer showcase in Denmark where she played clubs from all over Europe and her team won her division. Not bad considering we are a small club from Southwest Virginia that has limited soccer resources as compared to other large cities. I am proud of her for stepping out of her comfort zone (chicken nuggets and French fries) and taking this leap of faith. Maybe one day soon we will be watching her on the US National team in the FIFA World Club (always good to have dreams!).

4. What's your favorite volunteer activity?

I enjoy participating on the nonprofit boards I am a part of. I enjoy being able to parlay my knowledge and experience to younger generations and make decisions that have “real world” implications. Presently, I have an active role in our local New River United Soccer Club which is in talks to merge with a club from Roanoke. I am spearheading the financial and legal side of things, while other members are concentrating on operational duties.

5. Please share any exciting news or a fun fact about yourself:

I really don’t call one place “home.” Growing up my dad was career Army, so we were fortunate enough to live in many states, as well as overseas in Okinawa, Japan. At the time I really took it for granted I had the opportunity to see and do so many things other kids my age did not. I was born in Lawton, Oklahoma and our longest tour of duty was in Leavenworth, Kansas (where my dad ran the Federal prison). I loved it there and long to return to the Midwest (either Kansas or Oklahoma) as that is where I feel I belong. For the next three years, however, I will be residing in Virginia so my daughters can finish high school (then I am moving to the beach). I am not so much a mountain, snow, and cold person – I love the waves, sand, and warm ocean salt air that can only come from living at the beach. Until then, I can dream!
